The 10 Top Hair Care Brands For All Hair Types

This blog post may contain affiliate links.

While those of us with dry or oily hair have to be more careful when choosing our hair products, there are some products that are good no matter what type of hair you have. Here are 10 of my go-to recommendations for hair products suitable for all hair types. If you are just starting to take your hair care seriously, I would recommend each of these as a great, all-around starter product. Then, once you have something to compare to, you can slowly find more personalized products that suit your particular hair type.

The 10 Top Hair Care Brands For All Hair Types

Shampoo – Aveeno Clarify and Shine Apple Cider Vinegar Scalp Soothing Shampoo

I’m a big fan of Aveeno’s products but their apple cider vinegar shampoo is one of my absolute favourites. You would think that a shampoo with vinegar in it would be harsh on the scalp but in fact, it’s quite the opposite. I find it soothing and the apple smell is a great way to start or end the day.

Conditioner – HASK Coconut Nourishing Conditioner

If you’ve read other articles by me on this site, you’ll know that I’m a big fan of HASK products and their Coconut Nourishing Conditioner is no exception. The coconut oil leaves my hair feeling luscious and sleek afterward.

Hair oil – Creightons Argan Silk Intense Hydration Miracle Hair Oil

With the number of products I put on my hair and the number of different styles I try out, my hair can easily end up dry and damaged. A good quality hair oil like Creightons’ Argan Silk Intense Hydration Miracle Hair Oil it helps protect my hair while moisturising and hydrating it.

Hair serum – Avon Advance Techniques Absolute Nourishment Argan Hair Serum

Hair serums are a great way to restore some shine to your hair. I personally like using the Advance Techniques Absolute Nourishment Argan Hair Serum from Avon. My hair always feels softer afterwards and unlike other treatments which are only designed for one type of hair, the advance techniques serum works on all hair types.

Hair mask – Kérastase Chronologiste, Youth Revitalising Hair Mask, For Hair and Scalp

A good quality hair mask can help tame the frizz factor of your hair and is a regular part of my weekly hair care routine. This Kérastase Chronologiste, Youth Revitalising Hair Mask, For Hair and Scalp soothes your scalp and helps to give your hair a protective layer against the elements and the damaging effects of hair dryers, curling irons, or straighteners.

Leave-in conditioner – Toni & Guy Leave In Conditioner

Leave in conditioners are a great way to provide your hair with some TLC overnight, rather than quickly rinsing your hair in the shower when you’re already rushing because you’re late for work. This Toni & Guy Leave In Conditioner is my go-to choice. I’m a big fan of most Toni and Guy products and I like that this one comes in a small enough bottle for me to travel with.

Hair styling gel -L’Oreal Studio Line Invisi’Hold Extra Strength

My hair is too long to use styling gel these days, but when I had short hair, I used to swear by L’Oreal Studio Line Invisi’Hold Extra Strength. True to its name, it is almost invisible once it’s in your hair. It’s nothing like the horrible thick gloopy gel that comes to mind when you hear the words “hair gel”. It’s particularly useful for those days when you wake up and half of your hair is sticking out in random directions – this helps tame it back into shape without leaving a sticky residue.

Hair spray – L’Oréal Paris Hairspray By Elnett Extra Strong Hold & Shine

When it comes to hair spray, L’Oréal Paris Hairspray By Elnett  really is the gold standard. While I’ve tried dozens of different brands over the years, I always end up coming back to L’Oreal. I find that a lot of the other brands have a sticky residue or leave my hair feeling too stiff. I always keep several cans of this in the house as well as travel-sized bottles.

Scalp treatment – The INKEY List 2% Salicylic Acid Exfoliating Scalp Treatment

As I mentioned, I used to suffer from dandruff and a flaky scalp when I was a teen. I’m lucky enough to not have to deal with that anymore, but when my niece recently started experiencing the same thing, I made it my mission to find a product that would help her. We tried a few and the one that was the most successful was this, The INKEY List 2% Salicylic Acid Exfoliating Scalp Treatment within a few uses she had significantly less itchiness and flakiness.

Hair vitamins – Biotin Gummies Hair Vitamins

While products that you put ON your hair can help improve its condition, having natural, healthy hair is always preferable. Vitamins that boost hair and nail growth are a good investment and unlike lots of other parts of a hair care routine, they don’t take up any time – just take them alongside your food or other vitamins. Recently I’ve been using the Biotin Gummies Hair Vitamins but any multivitamins that include Biotin, Zinc, and Vitamin A will do.

I hope this list of 10 essential hair care products from popular hair brands has been helpful. Remember that everyone’s hair is different and if you have an adverse reaction any of these products you should not use it. I just wanted to give an overview of some staple hair products which are suitable for every type of hair. I’ve tried to include a variety of both high street and professional hair care brands.
